MoGi Group (TransPerfect Gaming Division) is an award-winning multilingual video game services provider specializing in localization, player support, community management, ethical penetration testing, gaming and admin tool development, and much more. We work with a large number of gaming developers and publishers across the globe, helping them to introduce their games to newer markets and wider audiences worldwide.

MoGi Group is searching for a talented lead/senior character modeler to create great looking game characters in Zbrush, Max and Maya. The ideal candidate should have excellent traditional art skills relating to characters as well as a deep understanding of technical requirements for games.

Responsibilities

  • Creating appealing characters while working with the art director, concept artists, designers, riggers and animators to balance quality and game performance
  • Modelling UV and texturing polygonal game characters accurately from provided concept art while keeping the appeal and the essence of the concept
  • Maintaining the consistency of the art style for all characters for project assigned
  • Modelling and texturing in a variety of styles
  • Following art directions and project technical requirements
  • Organizing, representing and communicating on all elements of the character modelling creation process and pipeline for project assigned
  • Overseeing and mentoring other character modelers on the team in terms of model appeal, best topology practices, technical aspects of the proprietary tool, etc
  • Establishing character pipelines and help drive character modelling forward in the studio
  • Managing outsourcing, communication and assets with various outsource vendors

Your Profile

The ideal candidate will have:

  • 5+ years of work experience as a character modeller or similar role, and at least 1 shipped title as a lead character modeller
  • Proven experience with creating both realistic as well as stylized character models
  • Strong understanding of human anatomy a must
  • Proven ability to create excellent looking textures, in a variety of styles, both from reference and painting from scratch
  • Proper and imaginative use of materials and shaders
  • Required understanding of how rigging and animation impact character creation with regards to spans and geometry topology
  • Ability to assess and implement clean, efficient geometry for maximum performance in the engine
  • Expertise in Max, Maya, ZBrush, and Photoshop, other packages are also encouraged
  • Self-driven, excellent verbal and written communication, team player
  • Experience working and directing outsourcing as well as mentoring junior team members
  • Strong drawing and painting skills are essential

Please include portfolio samples (link or PDF – online preferred) that represent the range of your skills. Portfolios should include low poly samples of game assets as well as non-game art. Please be sure that these samples have been cleared for release by their respective copyright owners. Make sure to also include some examples of your 2D work. Examples that show diverse a range are a plus (stylized to hyper real).  Generally, 12 to 15 pieces are a good sample.
